INTRINSIC SINGING ℠

$34.99

David Delaney has been helping actors and singers achieve intrinsic voice for more than forty years. An actor/singer himself, David trained and collaborated with Margaret Laughlin Riddleberger, one of the inheritors of the physiological side of the Italian Bel Canto School of Singing. This book is the culmination of that collaboration.

David is a graduate of the NYC American Academy of Dramatic Arts; he holds a Masters in counseling psychology, is an Advanced Certified Rolfer, has had ongoing training in the Tomatis Method of audio-vocal training, and holds Advanced Certification in non-linear Neurofeedback. He trained in and teaches Tai Chi and meditation. He is credentialed in Cranio-sacral Manipulation, SomatoEmotional Release, and Visceral Manipulation.

David Delaney’s understanding and mastery of the physiological, psychological, and neurological factor`s in what he calls Intrinsic Singing give him a unique ability: Helping singers embody the potency that achieves staying power and virtuosity.

Description

This book is for Actors, Lecturers, Teachers, Public Speakers, Musicians, Cantors and Chanters, Voice Over Artists–not just singers. It is for all those who use their voice in their work and who use their voice to enliven, awaken, arouse, move, inspire, and touch! Allow me to call you all singers moving forward.

Intrinsic Singing is a nonlinear process. Nonlinearity is the rule and not the exception in the universe and books are by definition linear, so let me offer you a thought on how to get the most use out of this book. I am aware that for most singers/actors/voice teachers/all those listed above — the majority of this information will be very new. It may even seem intimidating. However, if you work on two levels with the book, I can promise you won’t be disappointed. First, just let yourself hang out with and explore unfamiliar terms, images, and knowledge. Second, and more importantly, let your imagination lead you and let your felt sense and intuition do the exploring. This book is a starting point to see whether the allure of singing like this draws you in. Singing and singers are my passion. Our world needs a lot of radiant, resonant, unique, grounded voices making sonic medicine.

Remember, you cannot learn the full Singers State from any book anywhere. In fact, words can get in the way at times. You must physically experience it. You will likely need hands-on guidance, demonstration, and coaching. And most of us could benefit from, if not outright need, listening training. Don’t ignore the glossary in the back, please. You will find it very helpful. If we were sitting side by side, or I was teaching your class, I’d be constantly peppering you with this information. However, it would hinder the reading of the book to keep stopping and starting; but I don’t want you to miss this information. It is critical for to you get a full grasp. This is not an academic work, but the list of recommended readings and articles will enrich your understanding. Still, intrinsic singing isn’t about the linear two-dimensional knowledge any book captures. Intrinsic Singing is multi-dimensional. Very particularly, it is about feeling the experience in your own body and about being able to reliably reproduce it.

It is a journey to get to your intrinsic voice. But one well worth taking. I hope you will avail yourself of all I’ve offered.
